Madonna’s Charity for the Sake of Gypsies
Madonna has not forgotten the August scandal happened in Bucharest. Then the pop icon had decided to appeal to viewers with a fiery speech about abuses against Roma, but she was booed and having turned her political appeals, continued to sing.
The incident was hushed up, but Madonna decided to be consistent and to accompany her words with actions. The queen of the world stage will put her favorite pair of Dior shoes at a charity auction, supporting the education of Gypsy children. The main value of these shoes with a leopard pattern and silver high heels is Madonna’s autograph. The auction will be held at the Ball, scheduled for the end of the month.
Leslie Hawke, the head of the charity fund Ovidiu Rom, with whom Madonna collaborates, told the Associated Press news agency: «We are thrilled with the contribution of Madonna, because she is the embodiment of innovation, courage and will to win.”
The son of Leslie Hawke, the famous actor and the former husband of Uma Thurman, Ethan Hawke will visit the charity ball and turn the guests with a request to donate.
And Madonna was not the only celebrity who decided to give something for the benefit of children’s education: Vanessa Redgrave has donated her gold chain.
In her new appeal Madonna calls to spend money on good deeds.
